Graph Settings
Settings is the one dialog where a graph's name, shared settings, protection timings, Local Mirror, agent access, publications and housekeeping are worked on, in tabs. Open it with the cog in the toolbar (on a phone, the Settings row at the foot of the left drawer). The cog on a graph's row on the Knowledge graphs page opens the same dialog without opening the graph, with the General tab and, for a local graph, Maintenance.
Settings has an address of its own while it is open, so the browser's Back closes it, and it reopens on the tab you were last on. Alt+P opens it straight onto the Publish tab. Left and Right arrow keys move between tabs.
Some settings belong to the graph and reach every member of a synced graph, encrypted like the notes. Others belong to this device only. Each field below says which.
General
Cancel and Save at the foot of the tab apply to the fields on it.

Below the buttons, Install on this device offers to install EtherPK as an app, or says where in the browser's menu to do it (Installing EtherPK As An App).
Favourites are graph settings too, though they are edited in the sidebar (The Graph Sidebar).
Protected Documents
Everything on this tab is per device except the passphrase itself, and the timings save as you change them.
- On a graph with no passphrase yet, the tab explains protection and offers Set up protection….
- Lock after I switch away: Immediately, or after 15 seconds, 1 minute or 5 minutes. The contents leave the screen the instant you switch away either way; this is how long before the key itself is discarded.
- Lock after this long with no activity: 1 minute, 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour or Never.
- Close protected documents when I lock now: whether a deliberate lock also closes the protected documents you had open. Timeouts never close anything.
- Bind a passkey to this device, so this browser can unlock with a fingerprint, face or device PIN instead of the passphrase.
- Change passphrase…: the current passphrase, then the new one twice.

Mirror
Synced graphs only, and per device: choose a folder and EtherPK keeps a plain markdown copy of the graph in it while the graph is open here. The tab shows what the mirror is doing, lists anything it could not write, and offers Mirror now, Choose the folder again… and Stop mirroring. See Keeping A Local Copy Of A Synced Graph.
Agents
How to connect a coding agent to this graph: for a local graph, where the folder's AGENTS.md
is and the command that serves the folder to an agent over MCP; for a synced graph, the two
commands that sign a computer in and serve the graph. A selector rewrites the command for Claude
Code, Codex, Cursor or another tool, with a Copy button. Beneath them, the optional one-off
setups for searching by meaning, drawing diagrams when publishing, and publishing from the

Publish
Each publication as a card: its theme, home page, kind, which documents it takes, its site address and its include slots, with Save changes and Discard; where the site is written and the buttons that publish it; the last publish report; the list of public documents that are in no publication; and the themes copied into this graph. Maintenance
Housekeeping for this graph. Nothing on this tab is a setting; each control acts as soon as you press it.
- For a synced graph, the storage the graph uses on the server, in documents and assets. The documents figure includes encrypted edit history and shrinks when history is compacted.
- Whether the search index is kept between visits on this device, is temporarily in memory because another tab holds the stored one, or is rebuilt on every visit because this browser cannot store it.
- Rebuild search index re-reads every document to rebuild backlinks, tasks and search from scratch. Use it if a sidebar disagrees with a document. Your documents are not changed.
- Scan for orphaned assets lists every image and file no document references and lets you delete them, with a second confirmation. See Images And Files.
