EtherPK works with no connection after you open it online once on a device. You can start it, open your graphs, read, search and edit. Edits to a synced graph stay on the device and go to the sync server when the connection comes back.

What works offline

  • Starting EtherPK. A reload, a new tab or the installed app opens with no connection (Installing EtherPK As An App). The first visit needs a connection, because that is when the browser keeps EtherPK's files.
  • Local graphs. All of a local graph is on the device (Local Graphs).
  • Synced graphs. A synced graph opens from the copy on the device. This works after the device connects to the sync server once with this version of EtherPK. The sync status says Offline and counts the documents with unsent edits (Synced Graphs).
  • Protected documents. They unlock with their passphrase (Protected Documents).
  • Images and files in a synced graph. A file you viewed or added on this device shows offline. A file larger than 25 MB is not kept.
  • Adding images and files to a synced graph. A file you paste or drop with no connection is saved on the device and shows at once. It uploads when the sync server can be reached.
  • Extensions. Graph View and the extensions you used online work offline.

What needs a connection

When the connection comes back, EtherPK starts to sync at once. Before you clear the browser's data or stop using a device, make sure the sync status says Synced ([[Where Your Data Is Stored]]).
